Which is considered to be the most reliable the 1.9 115 or 130 version. I'm after an A6 Avant in either engine so would like some feedback on reliability.

many thanks Chappers :beerchug:

They're both reliable (touch wood).

I'd say go for the 130, but then I'm biased of course. :p

I've done 30k in the ownership of my A6, with just the one unforeseen problem (not including service and maintenance costs) which was the common alternator pulley problem. Cost me about £55 for the parts and I did the work myself.

I think the PD130 is a very reliable engine (make sure you use 505.01 spec oil, if you don't you're playing with fire!) and is a great drive too, lots of pick up, no turbo lag and 46mpg all day long, wherever its driven.

Thanks guys, i'm not too fussed about performance, the figures dont show much between the two. Its more a reliability thing, got a 2001 A6 115 to see at the weekend with 68k. Bloke said i would have to buy new if i wanted better condition, i hope he is right as its a 3 hour drive, we shall see !!
