Hey Guys

I'm weighing up various tuning options for my car at the moment and stumbled across this from one of the site sponsors:

has anyone got/used one?

Are they any good?

Diesel tuning boxes trick the ECU into thinking that the engine is still cold, this causes overfueling which is how the extra power is achieved.

All in all that's a terrible way of doing it, it will cause long term damage to the engine, rather get a proper remap done, it's about the same price and much better.

I know thats how the cheap ones of ebay do it but I thought the 'proper' ones were a bit more advanced than that?

Also at £180 it is about half the price of a remap.

You can get a remao for amlost that now. More-bhp where I had mine done is now quoting 195 for the 130 TDi. As B8 TDi said those resisters will just cause fowling up of the intake and turbo! They shouldn't be allowed to sell such $%$.

Remaps have been tested thoroughly and there are plenty of outlets to do them.

OK so tuning boxes are off the agenda.

What about this

I like the idea that if I'm lending the car to someone else or putting it in the garage i can essentially turn it off, then have one setting for day to day driving and another for when I really want to push it.

Anyone used/own one?
