Hi guys have recently been given a 52 plate A4 tdi and was looking for some pointers with a couple of problems.

When driving and moving up or down into third gear the gearbox makes a crunching/grinding noise, similar to when you dont fully depress the clutch. All other gears seem fine and engage smoothly. Is it a synchro mesh problem? Gear teeth worn?

The other unusal thing I notices was a slight metallic noise/grind when the turbo is at full boost, and once or twice it has felt as if the turbo has stopped spinning, eg the car has stopped accelerating. Its overdue a service could it be the oil has deteriorated and is affecting the turbo? No warning lights etc on the dash.

The other things that will need some attention are relatively minor such as the drivers electric seat not working when trying to raise/lower the front of the seat base. Can hear the motor but no movement at the front of the seat. Seat works fine in all other directions.

Finally, the cup holder and the tiny storage box next to it seem to be stuck closed, guess its a case of dismantling ?

Sorry for the long post but any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Bump? Anyone know the part number for the gearbox oil, figured its the cheapest option to start with.

Thanks
