im not too up on the technicals of this, but as long as they are the same PCD (spacing between the nuts i believe) they should be ok, a lot of the wheels (esp A3,A4,A6) are interchangeable with the VW range, being from the VAG group......

Thaks for the info carl, had a chat with a local vw breaker he reckons the A4 wheels wont fit but i'm like you if it's a VAG item i can't see a problem.

Right,

Golf IV wheels fit, Old shape Audi A3 wheels fit.

No passat, A4, New A3, or anything else for that matter will fit.

You need 5 x 100mm PCD, where as the A4/Passat take 5 x 112.

Your better off searching for Golf IV alloys as they are more common, and loads of after market options are available.

I'm assuming you've got the 16" steelies on at the minute..... if you have 16" alloys will look tiny due to them normally having lower profile tyres.

So my advice is..... Look for 18"s

That's a shame the TT's looked pretty cool, never mind. I take your point about the 16'' those arches take some filling maybe i should go a bit bigger.

Us local guys have to stick together.

You can get TT replica's for the golf, not sure weather or not the TT wheels actually fit or not.

As i said before, the range of wheels they do for the golf is endless... i'm saving for a set of 18" Audi RS8 replicas.

Give Dook some credit guys they are nice wheels, what about some nice montreal's for my Bora they would look the dog's don't you think?

Anyway i'm a bit confused by all this PCD,offset, bore and aspect ratio what's it all about? all i know is the Bora is 5 stud, with a stud diameter of 100 so come on enlighten me,at the end of the day all i want is a nice set of alloy's.

PCD is the Pitch Circle Diameter, i.e. the diameter of a circle drawn round the centres of the wheel bolts. The offset (ET) is the distance between where the wheel actually bolts to the car, and the centre line of the wheel itself. The bigger the offset, the more the wheels stick out, and the more 'dished' they look so it can still bolt to the car. Basically you need to know what sort of offset will fit your car without the tyre hitting the outside of the wheelarch at every bump.

You also need to know the size of the wheel, but not the diameter, the width, i.e. the 'j' number, as this will help determine whether the tyre width will fit in the wheelarch without rubbing, especially the front's at full lock. lastly you have to make sure that the overally circumference of a new wheel tyre package is within a few millimetres of the old.

My old wheels and tyres were 205/55 16's, which have pretty much the same overall circumference as 225/40 18's. This is important to keep your speedo giving the correct speed.

There is a car bible somewhere that goes through all this in detail, and is really useful. (rummages around for the link....) Ah here it is:

http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html

It has the circumference calculator about 2/3rds of the way down, and all you ever didn't want to know about wheels and tyres!!!!:biglaugh:

These are the wheels i'm saving for.... They look tonnes better when there on the motor....and with VW centres.

Fill the arches like a dream, and have a real "wide" look to them.

Generally, any car with these wheels on looks twice as beefy as normal.

A mate of mine can get them for £400 wrapped with budget tyres, but as soon as he gets em, there gone... and i always seem to be skint when he has them....

Always the way mate, anyway just bought some Audi A2/A3/GOLF 16s off evilbay guy reckons no problem for the bora, PCD-5 X 100, OFFSET-35 TO 45,BORE-57.1,identical to the sizes i downloaded from alloywheelguide . co.uk so they should be ok,they look quite tidy and £141 not to be sniffed at.

Cheers mate...

It'd be easier to post a link.... get your wheels up on ebay...... In the address bar at the top theres a long : http://www.eba...bla bla bla.com/.co.uk. Highlight that (double click it), right click, and copy.

Then when you post a reply as normal on here, just paste it in...

job done....

Wheels look good, just that 1 that lets the set down....

They shoud be about the same size as what you've got on, so no worries about incorrect speedo rating etc.

You cant post a link from your computer because you dont have hosting rights (or summat like that anyway)

What you need to do now is (breathe in):

Click the "post reply" button at the bottom left of the last post.

Somewhere near the top there is a black paperclip, click on that.

Click on the browse button at the top right... find that file again and double click.

Finally click "upload" and then once its uploaded, click "close window".

Then just type your post as normal and it will appear at the bottom on your text.

Easier than it sounds... trust me..
