Fault Code 18058

Just Wondering If Anyone Can Help Me Out Have A 99 Passat, Seems To Be Down On Power The Only Fault Code Showing Up Is 18058 Can Anyone Tell Me Wot Would Be Causing This.

18058 (P1650) Drive train data bus. No message from combi instrument.

Possible cause, Fault in data bus wire to combi instrument.

This is usually corrosion of the ECU plug due to water ingress from blocked plenum drains. Remove the ECU and check the plug and ECU for corrosion damage. There is also the possibility that a resistor inside the ECU has failed. This is checked by using a multimeter to measure between pins 6 and 7 of the ECU itself and for an AJM or ATJ engine on a car without ESP, this resistance should be between 115Ω and 135 Ω.

tanx very much appreciate the help, but is it possible that could be casusing a lack of power ior problems with the turbo boost

According to the VW workshop manual there are no possible effects but if there is a wiring issue there may be more than one area of damage.
