No radio code needed

I had to fit a new battery this mourning after it died in tesco car park. On changing the battery the clock and date needed putting right but I didn't need to re code the radio, does this mean I have the system that recognises the car? or do you have a certain amount of time before the radio security sets in?

it knows it belongs to your car most do if u put it in another car it will need the code
