1988 Audi 80 E Odometer stopped

Hi all,

As per above, the odometer and trip stopped but speed and rev counter are fine.

Had a mechanic take everything out and check but didn't get it going again.

Is this a known fault that I can sort, maybe he missed something?

I can only find one other thread on here related to this but it looks to me like it's for a newer model

Hi there,

This happened to me in the 80....whacked the crap out of my dash while driving and it came back to life. Well maybe a combo of whacking and resettting the miles.

1/printed circuit in dash as dry soldered joint reqs removal strip and resolder
2/speedo sensor on gearbox either faulty the connection has water in it and it has corroded or the gear in the gearbox has come loose on the diff
