TIP or Multi ?

Im confused, will someone explain to me which cars had Multi tronic and which had Tiptronic. Auto trader seems to be full of cars with TIP, yet some of you say that TIP was not available in anything but Quattros around 04. PLease set me straight as regards both these trannys and also if it says auto in the add does that mean something different to TIP or MULTI........Cheers Del

I always thought Multi was fitted to FWD cars and Tip was fitted to Quattro cars.

My Quattro A6 is Tip-tronic.

Yeah Isaac's right, tiptronic is for quattros mult for fwd.

If you get a FWD then make sure you test the box VERY carefully, many people experience problems.

I have a multi and its an absolute pleasure to drive.
