I have a MK5 Golf Gt TDI 140bhp. The front washers have stopped working but still work ot the rear. Also the wipers stop working when the car stops moving but work ok otherwise. The bonnet open light on the dash isn't coming on so I had a suspision it was the switch at the at the bonnet catch thus stopping the wipers and washer at the front but I have crossed it out and the light still didn't come on. I have also had my mate put the computer (not proper vw computer) on the diagnostics but nothing showed. Can you help.

The wipers are supposed to drop down a speed when the car comes to a stop. i.e. from being on continuously when moving they'll reduce to intermittent when stopped. So that doesn't sound like a problem.

The front washers not working sounds like either the pump isn't working or the jets are blocked/disconnected. Do you hear the pump spinning when you press the washer lever?

The wipers stop dead from any speed and then start again when I start moving again. The washer works on the rear window ok and its the same pump. There in no noise from the pump at all when trying to use the front.

this is the correct function.

good.

it could be a dodgy contact in the pull towards you position of the right hand indicator stalk.

when you pull towards you, do the wipers swish? they should swish 4 times then pause and then one more swish.

i'm unsure on the electrics, but i bet there is somesort of relay in the wiper circuit somewhere, this could be duff.

Hi I have experianced on 3 vehicles (Golf 5) a break in the wire from the onboard supply control unit to the pump.
