Hi - I have just bought a 2003 A4 1.8T sport multitronic with 86k on the clock. The car has not been run for some time (5 months), and is covered by a 12month warranty from the garage (across the road from my house).
When I looked around the vehicle and test drove it there were some creamy white deposits on the oil dipstick - I was told this can happen with these engines if they have not been run for some time, and so to run it for a couple of weeks and then return it for a oil and filter change (I have only had the car a week at present)
I have now noticed the exhausts are smoking a little and I suspect the car is burning a little oil, also the coolant level was very low - I have topped it up and am keeping an eye on it over the next few days.
Can anyone advise if the above is true, and that it is simply that the car has been stood, I am obviously a little worried in case there may be a more serious problem with the head gasket or something?!!! Cheers
