View Full Version : Funny noise from my Touran

Touran 75

I have a 55 plate Touran 1.6 FSI. It has a manual 6 speed gearbox and has covered just over 15,000 miles without any problems……..until now.

All of a sudden it has started making a funny roaring noise above 30 mph. It sounds like it is running on knobbly cross ply tyres. The noise is dependent on road speed only; it does not vary with the engine revs or gear selected. It can only be something to do with the wheel bearings, CV joint or final drive?

Does anyone have any ideas?:1zhelp:

Experience tells me that the technically inept dealers will only waste my time or damage the car!

Touran 75

Update: ******* has just replaced the wheel bearing, fixing the problem.

Unfortunatly, they insisted that I replace the tyres before changing the bearing. They told me that the tyres had gone out of round causing the noise. To make matters worse Kwik Fit changed the tyres and damaged the jacking points and sills by using trolley jacks that were too big for the jacking points and that did not have rubber cups. DO NOT EVER GO TO KWIK FIT!

Anyone have any experience of getting money out of Kwik Fit?
