I recently bought a 52 plate audi a4. The front wiper arm has a little corrosion on it that needs sorting. No problem there but the car only had one previous owner and all relevent paperwork came with it when I bought it. Within this material is a receipt for a front wiper arm (dated October 2005) which was replaced due to corrosion! The car was 1st registered in November 2002.

Can anyone let me know if this is usual for Audi or should I get in touch with them direct for a replacement?

Cheers Dom

Hi,

Yes all A4 B6 suffer from this issue...

Both of mine are a raw silver colour and have been for some time now!! (mines a 2002)

I know a few people who have removed them and re-sprayed them while they are off the car,

The next next you go to a supermarket or shopping centre... have a look around you in the car park and i bet you see more than one like that!!

My dads A4 2003 started doing after 2 years..

If you want to change them.. go for the B7 aero arm, these dont suffer from this issue.

Hi Dom

I have the same problem with my recently purchased A4 2002. Both of the arms are suffering and I'm in the process of trying to remove them with limited success I might add! (search the forum for my thread if interested).

I have seen mentioned the B7 aero arms a couple of times on this forum. Are they the same as the ones that are my car now or a different design? I think someone mentioned that they are better, but if this is so, how are they better?

for £60 odd - the Aero arms are the best wipers ever - so quite - no smudgin lines etc - fitted mine only two weeks ago due to same prob and never looked back - so i have two corroding wiper arms (complete with blades) for sale.... offers? - check out http://www.audi-accessories.co.uk/index.php to purchase (this is where i bought mine)

Paul,

Thats the ones - you will need to preserve the nuts from the original arm and be careful taking them off (that corrosion on the arm kind of 'welds' the arm to the spline) When you remove the nut push down towards the windscreen where the arm bends - this should help release it.

Cheers,

Paddy

Thanks Paddy

Would you mind having a look at the thread below? I have added a couple of images of my wiper arms and wondered if you could tell me if these are the Aero arms or not?

ok so i looked everywhere on the internet on HOW to put the aeros on my audi. I even cracked my windshield trying. After thinking I was going to lose it i tried this one last thing that worked for both of the arms the very first time. SPray some WD-40 on them and then take the drivers on and **** the wiper part up. Sorta like when we are cleaning your car people will **** the blade and the arm up in the air. This takes ALL the tension off of the nut and it popped actually i should say slide right off. Like I said worked PERFECTLY but now thanks to my orignial attempt and instinct of be a man and wrench on it I have a cracked windshield.
