:1zhelp:hi, everyone just new here i own a vw passat tdi 1998 still runs like a dream with a 140,000 on the clock. i need to change the front brake disc,s and pads,but i need some help from smeone here. does the centre drive shaft bolt hold the front disc,s on.as today i was driving my car the front n/s disc sheared completely what a noise so prety desperate for any advice on how to do the change. thanks shauny

You need a 7mm Allen Key & A piston rewind tool for the rears. Easy Job

thanks for your help it is the front disc,s i need to change, "not sure how they are fastned "on, would be much appreciated for your help.n/s front disc has sheared into two halves but still attached to the hub, thanks shauny

As the guide remove the calliper 2 x 7mm Allen Key bolts, remove the calliper carrier.

Undo screw on disc to hub, can be a pain, soak in wd40 for a bit, but easily drilled out if that fails. The wheel nuts hold the discs solid with the calliper holding it in place also.

Remove old discs.

Fit new discs and pads.

hi,had wheel of earlier today could not see any screw to hub may have been drilled out before,but saying that there is only the five stud holes in the disc ,but i will manage from the link you sent me excellent quality pictures ideal for a novice like me.spot on help thanks shauny....

I used the guide and did my whole car, discs and pads from it and never tackled brakes before. A pad change now takes 40 minutes.
