Hi i have a passat 2001 2.0lt se everything is working well just wount start engine light is on will this stop it from starting up.

do you mean the engine light is on when you get it going or on when the ignition is on ? if you know somebody with vcds that can read the codes for you this will give you an indication where the fault could be.
