audi s3 service light

hi guys im going to pick up my s3 today and the bloke im buying it off has just had the car serviced over 600 worth with a non audi garage and the paper work to prove it, but the service light is still on ive been told by a few people you can turn it off your self by doing somthing? can someone tell me the correct way please :D

It is explained in the manual I am sure. But it will go to fixed service intervals; only dealers I believe can reset to variable servicing.

My mechanic tried that method but itkept coming back on again. He said to get it to stay off would have to connect to the computer.

I havnt reset it just stopes it from being on the display all the time
