glove box light

I just got a new glove box light today and after putting it in i noticed there was a lot of heat coming from it, very hot. do you think it might be staying on,even after turning off ignition ? is there anyway to check if its staying on ? thanks very much for looking. its a 54 reg 1.9 tdi se.

to check the light is going off. set your mobile phone up on video record and place in the glove box recording the light as you close the glove box. Lock the car and wait some minutes. go and retrieve the phone and watch the video back for your answer.

I found out what was wrong. the back of the glove box was slightly bent and not catching the switch.problem solved. thanks again for answering.
