hi, i am on the verge of buying an audi a3, it is a 3 door model on a 54 plate.
now my question is this, can you get roof-bars to fit these so that i can put on my roof-box?
im not sure as there are no roof-rails and as it isnt 5 door, i dont see how you could attach the roof-bars!!!
any help or info would be much appreciated,
thanx,
marty

thanks, was just wondering how they fitted with only the 2 doors?
you got a little blac circular plug thingy that is at the top of the door in the roof? its hidden when the door is closed the seal covers it. there is one each side, these black things come out and the front bar is located in these holes and then you tighten something on the bars and they clamp to the car using the little ridge along the roof.
the rear bars don't have a locating hole, they will clamp up between the ridge on the roof and the gap above the rear glass.
i also have a 3 door A3 and have been researching roof bars for my kayak. i found the following websites http://www.car-roofracks.co.uk/cgi-bin/basket.cgi?conlink=cgi-bin/select_roof_racks_bars.cgi__25&items=869_1_750_1_1417_1&control=Add&man=Audi&make=A3
or try http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/RoofBarsGuidedSalesCmd?action=getProducts&storeId=10001&categoryId=165618&catalogId=10151&makeName=141385&modelName=141686&subset=142545&findPartsMMYS.x=43&findPartsMMYS.y=11
i have a mate who is the service manager at an audi dealership and the best he could do was £150 so its just the same really if you buy them from any of the links above. there are some shops on ebay but again you wont get them much cheaper if you want quality, if your not bothered then there are plenty of cheap roof bars around but they don't have a very good load rating. hope this helps.
