Oil Consumption

My A4 (51 plate) is using a crazy amount of oil. I am having to top up every 2-3 days, which for me is about 50-100 miles. I have had it in the garage and had the breather and connecting hoses replaced. It does not appear to be burning oil - no blue smoke. It is stumping me and my mechanic mate.

Is any body else had this problem or suffering the same issue?

is the car turbo,d ?
have the undertrays been off for inspection?

If your car has a turbo, remove the lower hose from the intercooler and see if alot of oil comes out.

I agree, take the intercooler pipe off. If oil comes out of there its all in the intercooler which means the turbos ****'d.

It is a 2l petrol - no turbo. I have now been informed it is most likely the valve stem seals. Any idea how much this is likely to cost at a garage to fix?

Any independants nearby? Any of the sponsors? They can probably offer you a much reduced wallet spanking...
