View Full Version : How To passat brake problem ?

i have a passat 1.9 tdi 130, 2004 when i apply brakes the pedal is spongy but if i have to apply them in stop & go stationary traffic the pedal becomes hard some times its very hard but they work ok. can any one help ?:confused::confused:

Possible brake servo problem. My advice with brakes is to get them tested by a garage asap.

You may have a water contaminated brake servo.

how to cure a contaminated servo ? new one or can be repaired ???:confused:

I believe you can by brake servo repair kits - I vaguely remember helping a mate repair one from a Triumph spitfire..

Before you go down that route, remove the cover that covers the battery at the rear of the engine and check that it has no water at the bottom. If it has the servo has no doubt sucked water in as mentioned above. Secondly I'd advise going to a garage or dealer and getting them to check the servo is at fault. Ask about repair/replacement. HTH.

Servo repair kits went out with the Triumph Spitfire, fit a new one.
