yes

its a 2003 old model 1.6. people have been advisin me against 18s i think at this stage 19s are well out of the question. ppl are sayin that 18s would zap the life out of a 1.6 and put strain on the gearbox. wot ya reckon? would they be too heavy? someone suggested 17s and lower it but i want to do that anyway with 18s

All depends on the weight of the wheels. My current 18's are really heavy Audi parabols and I noticed quite a difference from my old 18's as they were a fair bit lighter.
You can get lightweight rims but they will most likely be forged and £££'s

Any wheel that is a greater weight than what's currently on the car will have some effect, that's the tradeoff - looks vs performance.

That's why caterhams tend to stick to ultralight 13" rims, looks are secondary to pure performance!!
