Sounds like a flap motor has failed.... when you say it come back on eratic.. is that even when you change the speed setting it stays the same??

Could be the bushes in the motor.

Don't forget that the B6 A4/S4 blower fan automatically adjusts itself.

Motor bushes are going quickly.

Remove motor and TURN BUSHES 180 DEGREES you will get a few years outa um yet.

I had the same problem on my A4.. Cost a shed load to replace the motor (nearly 300 quid all in!!!) If you can get the motor out and mess with the brushes to get it workin you might save a shed loada money!!

I realise that this is quite an old thread but if you are looking for motor brushes these may be what you are looking for.

I had problems with my Passat blower, it would work fine sometimes and then other times it wouldn't work at all. Removed the motor and fitted a set of these and its now working perfectly.
