ABS light comes on sometimes, but disspaear if you re-start car..

Hi guys..

Looking for a little help. My ABS light comes on intermitantly. But if i turn the car off and restart it- it will dissapear.

I noticed my brake pads are getting a little low on the front- dont suppose this could have an effect?

for the abs light to come on, the computer needs to pick up on a fault, so low pads cant do it. its possibly a sensor giving a false signal. a fault code read is the best place to start.

Thanks mate.. I used to have a 99 a4 and have still got the fault code cable for that and the software installed on my laptop for reading it.

Will this cable fit the B6 shape too, or do i need a new cable and software? If so where do you advise getting one?
