Can a towbar be fitted to a Mk4 4motion Golf?

And now the technical bit - It will need to be a 2-bolt flange towbar ball (to attach a bike rack) and not a swan-neck type.

Many thanks
Rob.

Hi Yes you can fit a towbar on a 4motion.I can't understand why the 2 bolt flange type.

Thats good news! Any idea what companies supply/fit them???

The bike rack (for a trials motorbike) bolts onto the towbar flange with the 2 bolts.

thanks.

just a bit heavier than a regular bicycle then.

Can i ask, why not tow it on a trailer?

just a little bit heavier :-)

I already have the bike rack and it's tiny to store (and was cheaper than a trailer).

If you have problems getting such a towbar, you could weld a bracket on to a swan neck ???

although that may work, wouldn't it invalidate the type approval for the towbar and, in the worst case the weld should snap, the insurance implications.

Have you used this carrier with motorbike on other vehicles in the past?

towbars and cars all have load limits, pulling limit, for a trailer and a vertical load limit. How much does your rack, bike and collected earth weigh?

It may be heavier than the golf is designed for.

(wouldn't it invalidate the type approval for the towbar) so true, never thought of that
