Hi all,

I've just had our 2005 A4 B7 Sline Avant brought back in bits on a flatbed from the Audi dealership in Reading where it's been for the last 2 months. I took it in after it broke down with loss of power and after 3 weeks of Audi tinkering with it they've determined it needs a new engine. Apparently the cylinder injectors are oval and there's a loud metallic noise from the base of the engine (according to their report). They did contact Audi UK who rejected requests for assistance in helping with the repair bill (£5,500) because I had bought it privately. Evidently, the fully Audi service history from new and the 54k on the clock didn't seem to have any sway. I've written to Audi to appeal but it's unlikely that they'll do anything So a few questions if I may:

1) Should I just did deep and pay up or is this normal?

2) I'm thinking of buying an engine from a breaker, although I'm not sure of the engine code and can I know for sure a '06 engine will fit?

Many thanks,

James

Call Audi Customer Service on 0800 699 888 and log a call.

I do not think because you brought the car privately that they will not support. Has your warranty run out? Is maybe the reason 2yrs Unlimited Mileage or 3yrs 60K

Have you bargained with the Audi Centre on price if you did pay or speak to a Specialist VW/Audi repair to see what they can do?

Thats a shame, did you find out what caused all this, did it just go bang?
Seems to me ever since i swapped my 1.9tdi A6 for my s-line 05 ive had nothing but problems too, New headlight bulb&control unit £596
Oil pump chain tensioner [ metalic sound at bottom of engine] £ 600ish
and now a EGR cooler £450.
Starting to think these engines are no good!!

Has a similar problem with my multitronic , it packed in 1 months after the warranty expired, spoke to audi customer services and they did NOTHING. The bill for a new gearbox was £3500 from an independent specialist fitted.
Audi rejected my complaint saying I did not buy it from an Audi dealer,
