Hi all, I am offered a good deal for alloy rims http://www.rautamo.fi/vanteet/rwf/rwf_flyer_750x1000.htm

ET 42. 5x112, 57

My car is VW Caravelle Syncro T4 2002 9 seater, when I told that to the seller he wasnt sure if these rims will handle my car, otherwise the size suites mine, 205-65 R15, the same which is reccommened in the VW booklet but, the question he gave me is disturbing, will they carry the T4? do the rims have anything to do with the load factor or is it just the tyres that do the job? should I buy them ?

Thanks in advance..

yes, imagine if you had a set of spindally 5 spoke alloys, the weight of the vehicle including any possible load, (9 adults = 900kg approx) has to be taken by the spokes of the alloy.

Then you may go over a speed bump and you have the inertia of the weight also.

This is why you rarely see vans with alloys.

There are alloys available which are designed to take extra weight. Your best bet in my opinion would be to go to your nearest VW commercial dealer, They will sell the vans, caravelle and T4's so will have the answers.

At the end of the day it is up to you
