rear noise on s3

hi i have an 02 s3 and have a rumbble sound witch increses with speed, not sure if its a drive diff or cv or wheel bearing,,??????????????? please

does the sound fade out with speed?? wheel bearings tend to have a max humming point before they start to fade away..


What type of noise is it?? does it sound solid, rattlely, metal on metal?

Hi Rickt,

Thanks for the reply, It's not a metal sound, its like a drone worbble sound, at speeds of about 70 you hear it then past that it tends to go, also when off the gas and slowing down you can hear it , it slows as the car slows.
Not sure if its bearing or cv, would you know where i can get spec on wheel bearing torque settings ??
