55 plate Octavia TDI Auto Laurin&Klement Estate

I am considering one of these to be used as a taxi and am interested to hear from owners in regards to fuel consumption.

The reason I ask is because its an automatic! Most taxi's are manual for obvious reason's, but I wonder if the newer models have improved economy?

About 45mpg, maybe a touch more depending the use, depending on the engine.

I have a 55 plate Octavia 1.9TDi PD DSG auto with 129k miles on clock. It is regularly serviced. I get 40mpg in town, 55-60mpg on the motorway, BUT when just serviced and including some Slick 50 in the oil and fuel saver tyres on I recently got 74.9mpg travelling the A65 from Kendal to Huddersfield !

I does depend on how you drive it too. There can be a huge difference if you have a heavy foot. As a taxi driver myself I generally keep to the speed limits.
