wheel studs

are wheel studs interchangeable between alloy and steel wheels , just changed recently bought polo back to steel wheels for the time being but the studs on the rear n/s wheel catching inside the brake drum three other wheels ok.

hi jeffcoo, yes turns out standard steel wheel studs on a mk4 polo are about 45mm long the ones that had been put in the polo i bought (with alloys on) were 51mm in length so they were catching in the inside of brake drum somewhere when i reverted back to steel wheels (daughter learning to drive therefore insurance cheaper), need to take drum off now to see if any damage has been done. went to the good people at volksmania (nr bristol) got some 45mm studs and everything is hopefully ok now. ian..
