Hello,

I wonder if anyone can tell me how much oil it takes to fill a Golf Plus MkV TDI 140 from the empty to the full notch on the dipstick.

The handbook says fill slowly, which is fine in the driveway but not so good when it's -20c on a French autoroute in January. I speak from recent experience.

I remember that some of my previous cars had this handy piece of information under the bonnet.

Thanks,

Most cars I've seen are usually around 0.5ltr min-max. I think mine is about this (not defo though).

It's damn hard to tell what the level is in the first place with the gt tdi. The dipstick is worse than useless. It seems to hold oil on it, making reading it accurately nigh-on impossible.

If the Golf Plus is similar to my Mk V, I think it's nearer a litre. That said, they make a big thing in the handbook about not putting too much oil in and so I usually topup with only 500ml at a time when the low oil light comes on. That usually gets it up to the half/two-thirds kind of region.

I imagine if the oil level was originally at the min mark, you might just be able to squeeze a litre in, but I think you'd be very close if not over the max mark then.

Hope that helps. Maybe http://www.stuartdalby.co.uk/vwgolfmk5/vwgolfmk5_wearandtear.php#lowoillevel will help.
