97 passat tdi indicators stay on

as the title suggests the indicators stay on. not flashing. permantly on. i have disconnected the battery and pull the fuses to try and combat it. but once they are re connected they come back on.

anyone have any ideas

Not too sure if the passat is the same but the relay is normally part of the hazard switch.

what would i need to look for? im not too sure what a relay is

The relay makes the indicators go on and off, it might be jammed.
Sometimes a bit of a tap will start them going.

ill have a look at it. even when the ignition is off the indicators are still on mind. not flashing in a hazard way. just lit up as a standard light
