Hi there - i'm a newbie so be kind! ;)

Have a 52 plate TDI SE 110 with 84K on the clock. Has developed a fault where the turbo cuts in AND out just before 2k revs. It does this a few times and either carries on working or then cuts out altogether with a significant decrease in power from the engine....All works fine again if the ignition is turned off and back on again....until the next time!

I have noticed that when driving up a slight incline causing the engine to work under an increased load the turbo problem of it cutting in an out is almost predictable!! The one section of road I drive on once each week it th turbo has cut out evrerytime for the last 4 weeks!!!!! grrrrr....

...I've also noticed that my temp gauge also works intermitently and don't know if this is related to the turbo problems in anyway? One minute it registers 90 degrees the next zero. Sometimes it just doesn't work at all and others it's fine!!! Weird!!

Any help or practical advice that can be given would be welcome...I'm very technically minded and have some mechanical knowledge of cars - however this is the most modern car i've owned - all the rest are at least 25 years old aircooled and tax free!!

Thanks guys!

you will need to diag test the car to confirm issues

cheers for info - is this a dealer only option or could a local diesel engine specialist run the diagnostics??

Thanks in advance!:biglaugh:

If the sensor has been bust for a while it might have caused your car to constanctly overfuel (car overfuels when cold to warm it up, if it does it while hot the fuel isn't burnt turbo gets fuel on it) turbo will need cleaning, suggest you find a VAG specalist, expect to pay for half a days labour.

On the up side, when its all done the car will perform better AND use less fuel (as it should have done!)
