Hi,

I have a Mk4 GTI TDI 150 ARL and wondered what the equivalent would be in the Mk5?
I‘ve driven a 140 GT Sport Mk5 but not the 170. Would the 170 be the “GTI TDI”? Also, if the 170 is the GTI TDI, does it have a better interior than the 140?
The 140 I drove was almost brand new and didn't seem to go that well. I put that down to it being new and not loosened up etc.
Thannks peeps!

You can say the Mk5 170bhp is equivalent to the Mk4 150bhp. Both the Mk5 140 bhp and Mk5 170bhp are identical in terms of interior and exterior apart from the 170bhp has its exhaust pipes exposed and a red 'i' on the TDi badge. Obviously runnings costs (insurance and road tax) are higher on the 170bhp but I have noticed that the 170bhp doesn't hold it's residual value that well.
