Hi - newby here:D
I've had a good old search on the forum and can't quite find the same problem I seem to have!!
The boot won't 'catch' / 'lock' when I close the tailgate. Following the threads I initially thought that it was the solenoid as detailed in this thread http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum//showthread.php?t=3605 buy I have disconnected the rod but still cannot lock the tailgate. when I put the tailgate in the down position and turn the lock with the key the latch will not turn. There are two rods - 1 goes to the solenoid and 1 is sprung loaded heading upwards towards the key mechanism above the number plate. The latch will not move by pulling either rod.
I've tried WD40 but still nothing.
I guess the latch must be broken somehow so I shall have to get a replacement. Any feedback / confirmation of my conclusion would be much appreciated.
Taking the trim off has enabled me to reconnect the hose to the rear was wipe - solution found on the forum!!
