hello handbrake locking up on drivers side cable not at fault ,arm on passat caliper where cable connects stiff and locks in place and handbreak cable not working on this side ,released it in summer with wd40 by moveing arm back and forth but problem as come back do i need a new caliper? or can this be fixed by undoing the bolt that hold this arm not sure what the next step is. see picture of arm at fault thanks jm

Fit a recon exchange unit, only £80 exchange even genuine VW, less from a reputable remanufacturer. GSF often have Lucas TRW units which are the originals and top quality.

That is the earlier 535 type caliper used up to chassis number wvwzzz31zPE080000 (approx September 92) on the type 31 Passat. His is a type 3A and used the 1H0 type caliper and a different handbrake mechanism.
