My W reg Seat Leon boot won't unlock with either key or central locking. There seems to be no easy way of getting to the lock from inside. I am considering cutting a piece out of the trim to get access, then I am not sure if there is anything I can do to sort it.

Hi there sorry to hear about the boot problem and wish I knew the answer too! Sorry if you thought I knew how to solve this! This has just happened to my 52 plate leon too :zx11: Will not open on the key or fob just like yours.....i'm contemplatining crawling into the boot and removing the trim if possible. I had something similar happen on an old (dare i say this!) Rover Gti 216 door handles - where a metal link arm had come away from the plastic handle that connected to the lock release mechanism...I'm wondering if this is the same our cars??? ....Just a thought.

I've spoken with a family member who has an A4 saloon who had a similar problem - he was told to turn the key lock to the vertical position and it worked again off the fob! Sounds to me like this is almost acting like a 'deadlock' to prevent people opening the boot.....

Good luck and if I find a way around it i'll let you know!

right I have crawled into the boot and there is no way the trim is coming off without the boot being opened :aargh4: I've tried turning the key into various positions and locking/unlocking the car off the fob/key/interior switch with no success at all.......this is stupidly frustrating as I need to get into the boot to carry my drum kit around to gigs during the week

Anyone help us out??

Hi. First post here! I have a seat leon 51 plate, 1.6. My boot just won't open! Similar to what you have said, I've tried central locking and the key but nothing!!! Looked inside boot.... nothing. If you get any answer, it would be great!!!
Thanks.

Yeah it's a propper pain!!! Haven't a solution to this problem apart from cutting a hole through the trim on the hatch and release the boot manually! The car has also developed a turbo fault and the temperature gauge has packed up!! Apart from that the car is great!!!;)

Gonna get it booked in local specialist VAG garage for a full manual and computer diagnostic check. Fed up to the back teeth with faults on my car....let you know how i get on!

Nice. Would be great to hear how you get on. I'm off to the seat garage tomorrow morning. Having trouble removing the aerial as well. Not keen on breaking it so will hopefully get them to have a look at that as well. I'd uv got any tips, let me know! I'll post back onnce I've spoken to the garage tomorrow morning.

Boot problem sorted.... For now! There are 3 main things that could be wrong. 1. The rod used to unlock the boot has snapped. 2. The rod has come out of position. 3. The lock is not connecting properly. If it problem one, the garage will replace the rod. Very cheap, easy and quick. 20 mins tops. If it's problem two then it's even easier and cheaper. Pop it back in! If it number 3, it's a little more complicated. You can do a quick fix by using a spring from any pop up pen but it means that you can't lift the boot handle when it's locked without re-locking. But it's a free quick fix. To have it fixed for good you need to buy a new lock. About £50 from seat. Not including labour :)

To get the boot open it's quite easy. But writing an explination isn't ;) you just need a screwdriver and to know what to do.

If anyone wants to call me for a detailed explination on how to get the boot open from the inside WITHOUT cutting trim or damaging anything or how to do a quick fix that's fine. Just email me at .... malfectionrecords@mac.com and I'll mail you my number. Hope this helps!!!

Oh. To get the aerial off. Pull. Hard, but gentle :)

James.

James mate you're a legend! I'll ping you an email so I can speak with you to get lock open. Have already had a prod around with a flat bladed driver on sunday but didn't want to do any damage!

Speak soon buddy!

hi,if you access boot trim from inside of car and remove the nearside handle(recess) used for lowering boot lid (one phillips screw and a bit of wrestling) you can reach inside trim and release the boot lock mechanism and the boot will pop open-i had this problem on my 2002 tdi se the fault was dirty contacts in the plug of the c/l actuator-a new plug and some switch cleaner sorted it out- any more info message me ,regards colinp
