I'm looking to buy a ice set of alloys for my B6, but i'm not sure what tyre size i'm best with. Actually, i'm not sure what offset i need to order either!

The standard 16" alloys i'm keeping as winter wheels since they're all corroded anyway, but for summer i want to fit 18" wheels

So i have 3 questions. It is my intention to lower 25-35mm at the same time, so that i dont leave massive wheelarch gaps by fitting 18's.

1) I presume i wont be fouling the arches with a 2" wheel increase, and such a small lowering?

2) If the wheels are 5x112, what offset do i need? ET35 or ET45?

3) What tyresize is most common on the B6 for 18's?

i've used a tyrecalc and get 2 or 3 cobinations that keep the rolling radius the same, and will keep my speedo accurate, but i'd rather have the most common size.

Thanks in advance for any answers

Buzz, I have 18" OZ Superturismo on my B6, so hopefully I can help a bit. I don't know anything about the lowering, but you could easily get away with a 25-35mm drop as there is a big enough gap between the wheels and arches.
I really dont have a clue about the offset as I ordered my wheels direct from OZ in Italy and they sorted me out with all the spacers, etc. Finally my tyre size is 225/40/ZR18 and I'm using Falken FK452 tyres. Hope this helps :p

Wasnt sure if 225 would be wide enough on an 8" wide tyre

been tempted by these on ebay, but haven't taken the plunge, (yet)

I've just bought a 2007 TDI Sport with 17's they come with 235/45 17s. Therefore I would suggest you need 235/40 18.

Theory goes back to my Mk4 which had 225/45 17 on and then went to 225/40 18s to maintain the correct rolling radius.
