Hi!

Got my 2.0 TDi 170 in Sport trim on the 23rd (nice Christmas surprise) and wondered whether anyone has tried SD cards in the stereo in capacities greater than 2Gb? I've read in the manual that it only supports up to 2Gb, but a few gadgets I have say similar things for microSD etc and support up to 4,8 or 16GB...

Great car by the way. Had an 2006 A6 Avant until last week and this feels almost as good. Better engine too! :Blush:

Gadgets are probably compatible with the SDHC protocol which higher capacity SD cards use, so depends if the head unit supports SD + SDHC protocols.

Doubt it as stereos used are pretty old in computer age.

Have you tried?

p27 of my RCD 510:

.The unit can read SD memory cards (Secure Digital Memory Cards) and MMC memory cards (Multimedia Cards) with a capacity of up to 2GB. The unit does not support other memory cards that fit the slot physically, such as SDHC cards (Secure Digital High-Capacity Memory).

then next point that follows is:

.The unit also supports SDHC (Secure Digital High-Capacity Memory) with a capacity of up to 32 gigabytes.

So basically contradicts itself. Guess German to English translator of manual got something wrong.

Anyone got a German version of manual to check what it says there?

Or has anyone tried a 32 GB SDHC card? Need to verify it will work before buying one.

I am having issues where both SDHC cards often appear to have unplayable tracks which play fine sometimes on car and always on PC. I am just re formatting my SDHC cards using this to see if it helps;
SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card Formatting Software | Download | SD Memory Card | Digital AV | Consumer Products | Support | Panasonic Global (http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/index.html)

Will Let you know.

I believe I have the MMI3G, DVD Nav, 2x SD slots, colour screen.
