Hi,

1) Redex injector cleaner

2) STP

3) Slick 50

I would go for Slick 50 not only cleans the fuel system but also helps combustion chambers and intake valves. It is on the expensive side, i think £14.99 400ml.

There's also Forte which is highly used and recommended.

Are these all fuel additives?

I once used a spray, about 7 years ago, that sprayed directectly into the intlet manifold.

It gave great results, but I can't remeber what it was called.

How often do you use the additives?

Does anyone know of a good spray?

how do these work? do you pour it in with the fuel? never used one before but would like to treat the engine to a nice clean instead of the external all the time:Blush:

I've remembered the name of the product I used and had good results with:

10K Boost. Has anyone used this?

Yes I believe all of those are ones which you add to say 50 litres of fuel.

I use the STP fuel system cleaner which is £15 from Halfords.

Did a bit of research a and that seemed to be the best that was available over here apparently, it would seem you get what you pay for with these additives.

An even better one was called BG44K but I could not find anyone near me that sells it!

An ideal time to use some would be before an oil change as some of the additives can work their way into the oil ;)

I've found it here:

Looks interesting. Bit easier to apply than the 10k Boost

I've read mixed views with these. Forte do one that cleans the piston crown, injectors and ensures a good spray patter, better burn and therefore less unburnt fuel to carbon up the EGR and turbo.

I use Millers DSP 4 at the moment, not every tank. I tend to use an additive more so in winter.

I'm sure BG44K is an ingrediant with the additive that is supposed to be good!! I'll have to do some more research. The octane rating is not raised with Forte, but with the others it's typicaly by 3-5.

millers power plus, ive found is the best treatment. when i took my car for the mot, the emission reading was 1.50 which is very good for the milage my car has done, also when i change the fuel filter, which is done with a full service every 6 months, i always pour a little diesel in then 2 glugs of millers then top up to the top with diesel then refit, then immediately take for a drive, try this and i bet straight away you will notice a difference, seems to be good for mine as mpg is excellent .

Hello Mr Meeks,

Yes i will recommand it, the slick 50 is excellent for use with injector cleaners and engine treatment. Gives the car more life, as in it the slick 50 will keep your car in good health.

i use it about 3 times a year the last bottle i bought from ebay was only a fiver so its not going to break the bank the car seems to run a lot smoother and crisper when used. i also use forte engine flush my car is a 1.9tdi pd and it as done 153000 miles and runs great returning a constant 49 plus mpg
