Hi guys I have just bought a 2002 A3. Its a great car but definitley need to upgrade the alloys. I have seen these on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/17-audi-vw-rs4-alloy-wheels-tyres-to-fit-a2-a3-a4-golf_W0QQitemZ300270473220QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Ca rParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Rims_Car_Wheels_ET?hash=it em300270473220&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318

I just had a few questions if anyone knew the answers

1. Will I need spigots for these alloys, or do i just bolt them straight on?
2. Would it be better to get 18" ones instead
3. If anyone has ugraded the alloys does the ride become rougher in the A3

Thanks for your help in advance

The tyre size is very slightly wrong at 215/45 17, it should be 225/45 but otherwise they should bolt straight on if they are as described. Certainly I would go for 18’s if I was investing in new wheels but the bigger the wheel, the lower the tyre profile so the ride degrades as a result and big wheels are quite heavy which can also effect the ride quality. When I take a big aftermarket wheel off, I often mutter “light alloy wheels my arse”.

18"s will look better, but you may want to lower the car too so it doesn't mess up the proportions of the car.

The ride definitely becomes rougher, quite noticeably so.
