Hello All,
Just had my 2000 A4 Avant 2.4 for 3 weeks and have been seeing to some of its ills rear shocks and CV joints, I have noticed that the display panel is only partly working and was wondering if I could get a replacement part (display panel). I'm quite gifted with a spanner and electrics when I have a manual (I'm not Einstein :o) but i have been working on cars since I was 15.

I've always been in to modifying cars started on MK1 ford escorts and staying with fords until now.
I like the car but find the ride a little soft and wallowing, I was thinking what it would take to convert it to a 4 wheel drive,(instead of just doing the simple option of a suspension kit) is it a case of changing sub frames and rear beams ?, or do I have to fabricate body mounting points, its not impossible for it to be done, but was just wondering if any one could give me a heads up on where to get transmission layout diagrams for both cars, or even if its been done before (probably but my search skills are useless on Google:Blush2:). An old Boss of mine used to have a B5 (?) RS4 with 300bhp and i always liked the look of it (but pretty things not in my price range:(). So now I have its lesser brother could I build something similar ? . I have noticed the price of Audi used spare parts (450/600 pounds for a Gearbox similar amounts for back axles and sub frames) is this the norm or can these parts be acquired for less, please tell where is Aladdin's cave :D.

I'd say the best way to convert your car to 4 wheel drive is to sell it and buy a quattro version. Otherwise you're looking at all the suspension as you said, fuel tanks, exhaust, I expect that the bodyshell is different in places. Seriously, I'd expect it to be a nightmare!

I agree, you can buy an S4 2.7 biturbo for around £5000 with the best part of 300bhp out the box and you can tune them to unreal power outputs. You also get the Recaro trim and either brushed alloy or real carbon fibre dash trim as standard. For the money it'd cost to get a car like you want to build on the road, you'd be quids in buying an S4. ;)
