Hi, Posted on behalf of my brother.... Above detailed car overheats. He has changed the thermostat, waterpump, hoses, connections, etc, and it still overheats. Has anybody else experienced the same, can offer any advice before he hits it with a sledgehammer and i have to lock him in a padded room? Cheers, Tim

Hi, and thanks for the response.
I am guessing that he will do this, at the next possible chance, probably the weekend.
I'll let you know

The reason I say get this done if he hasn't already, if he's had all the aforementioned replaced and still overheating it could possibly be a head gasket failure. Is he loosing coolant? Also check for any cream on the dipstick.

Another thought before we jump the gun, is the fan kicking in properly on the rad? Also is it definately overheating or are you just taking the guage as gospel? Temparature senders are a common failure.

Running lean will also make the turbo glow.

Thanks for the advice, he has already replaced thermostat, water pum, pipes and connectors, etc.

He has just backflushed the radiator and reports it is now fine again, and changed the thermostat again.

It is now once again, a happy car:Blush:
