Hi guys, :biggthump

My A3 1.8t has started playing up, it won't accelerate and splutters like hell, its getting worse and making it impossible to drive, i have replaced the air mass meter and even tried another in case that one was faulty. if i unplug it tho it revs up fine but will not idle as expected. has anyone come across anythin like this before or have any ideas as it will hardly drive

Regards

Paul :D:D

You really need to get it read for fault codes.

Look in the vagcom sub forum for someone who might me able to help.

the engine management light has not even flickered tho, i have a scanner at work but didn't see a point in using it if the lights not been on. i will check vagcom out , thanks

the mil will only come on for certain faults, so you can have several faults stored in the ecu without the mil doing anything.

i've unplugged the maf and found that the power it has got is rediculas now, it goes like a bat! but will not idle properly and is overfueling so i'm guessing the fault is related ro the mass meter, maybe a fault with another part and its interfering with the maf. thanks i will plug it in tomorrow morning

get yerself to an indi audi garage or specialist... could be anything from throttle body being clogged with grunge to pre and post cat sensor... no point replacing parts when you don't actually know what the issue is.

i plugged the scanner in and it came up with the air mass meter faultly, this is only because i unplugged it so i could drive it, also another code came up concerning the map sensor which is apparently on top of the intercooler. since the last time i wrote on her i tried pluggin the mass meter back in and it worked as it used to before it started playing up but still not perfect so i'm convinced the map needs replacing or at least lookin at to see if maybe it just needs a clean. i have also replaced the lambda probe (pre cat) and has made no difference, there is no post cat sensor.
