View Full Version : Please Help Abrupt loss of power and loooaads of white smoke out of the exhaust

hi guys im new to this so forgive me if im doing anything wrong. 2005 A3 2.0 TDI S-LINE MODEL DRIVING AT ABOUT 40 THEN SUDDENLY A POWER LOSS, RESET THE ENGINE BUT NOTHING, A MILE DOWN THE ROAD A PLOOM OF WHITE SMOKE AND WUDNT STOP AFTER. THE SMOKE SMELLS A BIT LIKE OIL, ENGINE RUNS WATER AND OIL OK BUT NO POWER AT ALL N SOO MUCH SMOKE....SOUNDS EXPENSIVE SUM1 PLEEASE HELP. ANYTHING WILL BE VERY MUCH APRRECIATED. CHEERS:confused:

Check that none of the intercooler/boost pipes have blown off.

Just an update... This mornin went to start it ..it just about started b4 I heard a squueaky knock n den it just died all lights n stuff workin but won't make any attempt to start up. I'm gettin worried now guys.. Pls help

white smoke coming out of the exaust can be that the turbo is knackered,

is there any smoke coming from under the bonnet?

nope none out da bonnet n I still can't get it to start engine isn't even turning might have to be an audi garage moment

My friends 2.0 TDI Golf Mk V had the same problem 2 weeks ago, diagnosis was knackered turbo......has it been in yet?

Could be a small leak in the manifold/cooling system into motor - glycol/water mix can and makes heaps of white smoke - it does not take much to lay a screen - this will normally occur on compression, but this does not account for loss of power....
