Right then, the rules;

You can nominate upto ONE car in each category but ONLY cars from the VAG stable.

Categories are (as Topgear)

Remember just one car in each category per post, you can change your mind and post again. Bonus points for colourful descriptions and reasons.

Oh, and remember by posting you possibly lay yourself open to unbridled ridicule.

I'll go first,

Seriously Uncool - Audi Q7 because it is pointless.

Uncool - New Beetle convertible. In my opinion you have to be either a Girl to drive a normal New Beetle and get away with it JUST, or if your a bloke you are a t*sser. There is one small saving grace with the covertable version in that at least you can hear people call you a t*sser if you have one which might make you realise what a t*sser / t*sser'ess you are and make you get rid of it.

Cool - Any MK2 Golf. Because they are.

Seriously cool - Mk1 Golf GTI 1800cc. It has never been bettered, is totally classless and will turn as many heads as a Veyron, except unlike the Veyron you can use, take and park it anywhere.

Sub Zero - The current VW Sportline Transporter. 170hp, leather and a face more evil than Hanibal Lector, just look at it !!! http://www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk/transporter/sportline-panel-van/ That van is so hard it looks like it would come over and beat you up just because you looked at it in a funny way.

What are yours? And bring on the debate.

Seriously Uncool - mk3 golf base models, fat younger rusty sister of the mk2, an un-nescessary update.

Uncool - 2009 skoda superb, looks uglier than a dog scraping its behind on the patio.

Cool - golf rallye, do i need to put any more? ok then, 4wd and golf in perfect harmony

Seriously Cool - polo g40, insane idea and they pulled it off like 40 chimps at a beat off contest

Sub Zero - mk1 golf clipper convertible, so good they made it through 3 different designs of golf

Remember the rules of the cool wall.

Seriously Uncool - any thing that we own.

uncool - any old golf or jetta that has been 'restored' using deep dish wheels. Were they on the car originally? no. then you are a chav.

cool - eos, just because the roof is a work of art.

seriously cool - Veyron, quite cheap considering the development costs.

The Chav's wouldn't know what a BBS RS was if I hit one round the head with it, they'd just give a confused look back and mutter something in the region of you can't buy them at Halfords.

Remember the rules of the cool wall.

Seriously Uncool - any thing that we own. Agreed.

uncool - any old golf or jetta that has been 'restored' using deep dish wheels. Were they on the car originally? no. then you are a chav. Wrong, deep dishes and stretched rubber are cool beause they are so so wrong and defy the laws of physics.

cool - eos, just because the roof is a work of art. Wrong, a car for hair dressers that have come good and now own a salon.

seriously cool - Veyron, quite cheap considering the development costs. Sort of agree.

Sub zero - This lambo (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=54029) I'm having trouble with this as I don't see the point of convertibles of any kind.

Using my now new favourite (for this thread) red and bold font, I say I told you it was naff in the thread title. We could however make the rules up as we go along, this would give rise to better banter, high jinks and petty japes.

Thinking about the MK3 (and I used to have one BTW) it is the most unloved and forgotten Golf of all, surely it has to be cool then?

I must admit, personally I prefer the Mk2 and always have (owned two 8v Gti's) but I always wanted a VR6 so got one. I love the sound of the engine, not to mention the pull but I think I'll be selling it in the new year to make way for a home grown Mk2 G60 16V. :D

Simply because my dad owned 4 of them... two at once! One a J reg 1.6l injection, and the 2nd a 1.8l carb.. which was slower than the 1.6!

Uncool: Audi A2. Hideous, expensive and you will have to explain to everyone why its made of aluminium.

Cool: VW Scirocco (both generations) but the new one is stunning, and as Top Gear correctly pointed out, you are paying more for less practicality.

Sub-Zero: Audi R8. No need for an explaination. Those LED lights do it for me!

It's got Magnecor race leads, denso iridium plugs, K&N Filter and that's about it for the engine. It's a highline so it's up on power compared to the GTi VR6.

Bodywork wise, she's had a Vento front end conversion with late spec debadged grille, washer jets removed from the bonnet (Range Rover Sport jets fitted into scuttle panel), side repeaters removed from new genuine wings, new genuine bumpers front and back, new genuine side mouldings all round, Badges smoothed out of bootlid, wiper removed from bootlid, the lines where the rear quarters meet the back panel have been lead filled and smoothed out and the beesting has been smoothed out of the roof. That's about it. :biglaugh:

Oh and a full windows out respray with a new genuine top tint windscreen.

Inside she's got a Momo 280mm Team steering wheel, momo gear knob, factory leather with a Becker Navi head unit.

The removing of the washer jets for Range Rover ones in the scuttle panel, that's an excellent idea!

Mk1's don't keep going to 150mph and they're about half the size and weight. Mine's a highline so it's quicker than a GTi VR in standard trim and if I do decide to keep mine it'll have a huge great charger slapped to the side of it in the new year, I'd like to see a 3.2 A3 keep up with that. ;)

Yeaahhh. Well, I guess your Mk3 VR6 has an interestingly calibrated speedometer! Perhaps you didn't notice that the whole point about the Mk3 being a dog is that it's *way* too heavy, hence no competition for a Mk1 - especially the 'runout' 1800s. No problem for a 3.2 A3 overtaking a Kompressored VR6 BTW, you just follow until the gearbox explodes - say 3 miles? :biglaugh:

You do realise an A3 is actually a heavier car than mine don't you???

Do you really think that a 250bhp N/A car in auto is going to be quicker than a 300bhp supercharged car that doesn't weigh as much in manual? Standard 02A box/clutch will take 300bhp all day long.

Specs are one thing, real-world capability another. Autocar couldn't get the slippier Corrado above 145, and it had a bigger and more powerful engine!

My A3 OTOH showed 156 *on the TomTom* on a trip up to Scotland - obviously, that section of the M74 was closed for private use at the time....

And remember (as a Mk4 GTI-owning 'chipper' friend of mine found out) it's *torque* that kills 'boxes, not power.

However, we're all pals on this forum, so have a nice day! Getting too old for all this 'boy racer' stuff these days (my wife tells me!), so I'll be wafting home from work in me Phaeton in a couple of hours. Less than 2 years old, 24k miles, just paid less than £16k for what is basically a Bentley Flying Spur - can't be bad!:beerchug:
