Engine Management

Hi all.

Got my battery changed the other day and on the first drive after the temperatue led came on beeping for a few seconds, so turned the engine off and turned it back on again and i didnt hear it again.

Does anyone know the reason behind this light?

I also read this below and dont know now if i need to be worried..

'If you disconnect the battery for a few hours apparently it resets the engine management.'

Can anyone tell me the potential problems as a result of the temperature warning light coming on?
