problem fitting alloys

hi all..picking up my first vw tommorow so fairly excited..03 golf 1.6 match..ordered set of 18" rs8(a8) alloys to suit..however when garage went to fit em the front wheels catch on brake pads(worrying)..quick call to place of purchase and 2 5mm shims on route..i'm assured this will solve problem..can anyone confirm this will indeed solve problem..? any info greatly appreciated...thanks..:1zhelp: :Blush:

The wheels are the wrong offset if they catch the calipers.
The spacers should work OK.

was assured wheels are correct offset for mk 4 golf 1.6..guy reckons from time to time spacers are required..i.ll find out soon enough when garage/myself tries again..:confused: :Blush:

finally got 5mm spacers today and fitted em..seemed ok till i took car for a spin..still rubbing/catching somewhere :aargh4:..do i just put on another 5mm spacer on or put on new 10mm spacers..are 10mm ok to fit..:confused: any help appreciated ..

don,t know why i never checked before fitting but it turns out the spacers i was sent were 3mm not 5mm(should have noticed but just in blind rush to get new wheels on)..anyway i managed to pick up a couple of 6mm spacers and everthing now dandy.. yippee..:Blush:

yeah i always wanted those wheels(i know some people think there old hat) they compliment the golf very nicely..:D

got em from nice chaps at wheelworx £399 with kenda kaisers fitted

don't do lots of miles so do me.. ;)

I paid £600 for the same wheels with Toyo's performance tyres.....
