Hi folks, first post W00P!

Ive just noticed that my 02 A3TDI seems to get to temperature rather quickly, a damn site faster than normal.
The other day the temp guage started to go further past the opperating temp, so i decided to let it cool down.
On getting home i had a quick look under the hood.
-plenty of coolant
-oil is fine (little on the high side)

Ive just driven to work this morning and the cars blowers just dont seem to want to provide me with any form of heat, and the same thing happened, car got to temerature very fast, but didnt overheat.

I used to have a mk4 polo before the A3, this had a similar problem, the cause of this problem was the thermostat piston popping through the housing.
The difference is i could (pikeyly) keep the engine cool buy running the blowers on full.

I noticed that only one of the 2 rad pipes is hot, so fingers are pointing to the thermostat not allowing coolant to be circulated, thus causing the engine to get hotter alot faster?

Could someone tell me where the hot air is generated, is it from the hot coolant or engine?...as you can probly tell im not the most engine minded person in the world!

Does anyone know if this is likely to be the case with this car or has any more info on my problem?

It is due for its 100k service (anyone know of any decent garages in notts area?)

Thanks for reading

Rich :1zhelp:

Isnt it amazing what you can find on the intergeek!

The hot air comes from the heater matrix, looks like the thermostat is a little buggered!

not pleased!

anyone used HAC vw/audi specialist in notts?

Thanks

Rich
