:1zhelp:Hi everybody, new here, My Touran is fitted with standard 16" alloys, and I,ve got to go to Germany for Christmas. I,m told that by Law I have to have winer tyres fitted. I want to find a set of scrappy wheels and fit them with Winter tyres to keep for all my winter journeys. But I tried the wheels from my toledo......the Hubs are huge on this Touran, the PCD is obviously different.....what the hell are they off??? VW Transporter? Audi A8 or the Audi Ugly (sorry Allroad) really need to find out soon so I can start looking. Christmas is a coming. (apparently its a big on the spot fine if caught without winter tyres in germany) I dont mind if I can only get 15" wheels so long as they fit the bolt holes..:1zhelp:

Hi Dreadnought

Have you thought of looking on eBay Germany? There are stacks there, you could collect them on your future trip and get them fitted to stay legal!

Have a look here (http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260317025194&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.de%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsea rch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37.l1313%26satit le%3D260317025194%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1).

Good luck.

Good luck. Thanks Frelon, a good resource, and a good idea, I have found that Mk 5 Golf wheels will fit, but £50 each from the Dealer/*******, then with the cost of winter tyres??? I think the crazy Germans are trying to destroy their winter tourist industry, used to enjoy going over for the Christmas Markets, but add £400 to a return trip (OK I know its a one off payment) and it no longer becomes viable.

Yes, I know what you mean!

However I have just sourced a set of 16" steel rims (from a VW New Beetle) complete with wheel trims for less than the cost of one wheel from a dealer - on eBay UK.

...and if you do a search for part used winter tyres on eBay you will be pleasantly surprised.

Normally winter tyres do not get much use so you should get some good deals. I am looking for some because here in rural Normandy, when it snows or when there is frost on the road, it takes ages for the roads to be treated.. ...and there is nowhere like the volume of UK traffic to keep the roads clear.

Go on, you know you want to enjoy the Christmas Markets in Germany, and there is nothing like them elsewhere.

Well that goes to show how smart I am - they did not fit!! Despite being 16" it appears that VW have a number of 16" wheels that are not necessarily interchangeable!
Apparently I (and you) need some wheels from a Golf V or Passat. The (unhelpful) dealer suggested a Part Number of 1KO601027AO3c @ £48.46 + VAT. Day light robbery!
Seems to be a rare part on the secondhand market because most buyers tend to buy alloys from new.

I trust you had a good Christmas!

Anybody interested in a set of New Beetle wheels with winter tyres? Or, perhaps I should buy a New Beetle to go with them!

Only just picked up on this.
well in that case you need 5 x112 pcd which is also the Audi A4 A6 fitting and this should widen the wheels available for you.
Try the various VW/Audi breakers who often have the wheels available, especially in 16" as most people want larger sizes.
Also do not forget that winter tyres have a limited time life, as the rubber hardens with age.
