Oh Crap - water in my Sportback spare wheel well

Anybody have any ideas where to look for the source of a leak that lets water collect in the spare wheel well? I just noticed it the other day though the water could have been there for a while I guess (a couple of mug fulls approximately). Carpets are dry so I assume it's coming in either from below or behind the rear trim panel, though not sure how. the water looks clean so maybe not kicked up from below?

Really annoying so any thoughts or advice appreciated.

What year is your car. This would indicate a possible accident repair but could be as simple as a window seal or missing gromit. Beware - this can lead to an almost unbearable smell and nasty mould especailly with leather interior. I'd be getting it seen to ASAP or if under warranty/recently repaired I'd get it straight back to the dealer.

I'd check the rear light clusters for signs of cracks.

Also check the cluster gaskets too.
