hi all, my 1998/r vw passat estate, 1.6 petrol (8v) tends to idle erraticcally for a few seconds. It does this when engine is hot and cold. Occasionally when accelerating at low revs it tends to 'hesitate' as well, though doesnt do this as often. I have checked and cleaned the MAF sensor but this hasnt made any difference. The oil, filter and airfilter are new, and the car has lots of s/h. mileage is 169k. I know these arent anywhere near as smooth as the 16v or v6 models but it still should idle fine. Please help!
